Application Support Engineer

  • Respond with technical and creative solutions to client problems via support ticketing system
  • Install, administer, and support dotCMS cloud installations in AWS
  • Occasionally travel to help clients on-site (usually less than one trip per quarter)


  • 5+ Years experience with Linux
  • 2+ Years database experience: PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, MS SQLServer
  • 2+ Years experience with application server administration (preferably Java application server)
  • Ability to speak and write English fluently
  • Familiar with security standards and procedures
  • Knowledge and experience with web protocols and standards (i.e. DNS, HTTP, HTTPS)
  • Proven and demonstrable analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Able to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Able and willing to travel occasionally

Preferred Experiences:

  • Managing Apache Tomcat servers
  • Nginx administration
  • Administering cloud hosted environments - especially AWS
  • Version Control Systems like: github, SVN, git, etc
  • LDAP / Active Directory service
  • Managing other applications servers (e.g. Weblogic, JBoss/Wildfly, WebSphere)
  • Java application server monitoring and tuning
  • Administrative scripting (bash, tcsh, Perl, python)
  • Web technologies like: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery
  • Administering Windows Servers and Services (e.g., AD)
  • Reading and analyzing Java thread dump files
  • Firewall configuration experience
