As event calendars become more populated with many different types of events, event filters make displaying and finding only desired event type quick and easy. Whether on the front end or the backend of the events calendar, users can search for event types or tagged events with only a few clicks.

On the backend of the events calendar, clicking the drop-down arrow to the left of the “Filter” button displays two different ways to filter events - by Event Type or by Tag.

Event Types are merely categories that have been associated with the Event Content Type. For more information please see the Categories Taxonomy documentation.

The Event Content Type has a field called Tags that allows users to label each event entry with keywords that front end/backend users can use to label and identify and filter events. For more information, please see the documentation section on Tag and Category Fields.

After Event Types (categories), and/or tags have been selected, the the filtered calendar events display and the selected filter titles appear on the left-hand side of the events calendar.

In the image to the left, the user is searching for events that have been “tagged” with the word “permissions” and are also of the “Training” or “Webinars” event type.

Filters can be removed by clicking the X to the left of each filter.
